Words of Bonds documentary project has three goals:

  1. To provide the opportunity for all New York City students and educators to hear first-hand experiences and stories of the Holocaust and African-American suffrage and enslavement.
  2. To use these documented histories as a launching pad to promote a dialog within our schools and neighborhoods so as to enhance understanding and tolerance among people of different backgrounds.
  3. To train students in all aspects video documentary production including preproduction/research, interviewing skills, post-production/editing and distribution.

Three years ago, several School News Nationwide members visited the poor community of Bethel Town in Westmoreland, Jamaica. The team provided medical care to residents, repaired and painted the Bethel Town School, and initiated a Bethel Town community agricultural development project. After seeing the community’s need and desperation, we pledged to return and improve their school, build new roads, erect new and better housing for the poor, develop a 4,000 square yard playfield, construct a library to accommodate more than 100,000 books, provide a computer lab to accommodate 147 computers, and help the Bethel Town people to become self sufficient. Please help us to raise the fund that’s needed to build this beautiful library.
